Our philosophy in designing this web site is to provide you (the user) with tools that are simple and easy to use, yet extremely complete and powerful. We've also designed the database to be a comprehensive "global village" (to coin a phrase) of actors and actresses. You are accessing a true database, not a loosely connected series of pages. Any information you request is generated "on demand". All our efforts are devoted to making this the Screenactors' Database. Consequently, you won't see any useless, cutesy graphics or worthless flashing banners.
What you will see is a valuable "tool of the trade".


What is SCREENACTORS.COM and what's in it for me?

Put very simply, it's a resume service for actors and actresses - but it's much more than that, since it offers services for producers, directors, agents, AND actors.

Face it. Now that the Internet is a reality, the days of "paper publication" are numbered. Why bother with large bulky catalogs or volumes of postage-stamp-size headshots (that may be out of date by the time you get them) when you can tap into the World Wide Web and search for an actor or actress with the press of a button?

Why should a producer, director, or casting director pay for these large (sometimes out-of-date) books on a quarterly basis when they can log in FREE anytime (24 hours per day) and get current information and photos that are updated by the actor or actress whenever their resume or photos change. All of this maintained in a full-featured database. If a producer or director is looking for that "next star" or someone with that "special look" or just a room full of "background", it's all here RIGHT NOW. And it doesn't matter whether the producer / director is in Hollywood or India, or whether the actor is in San Francisco or London - the database is GLOBAL.

Post your resume / photo with SCREENACTORS.COM. With your own personal LOGIN and PASSWORD, you can update your information anytime, anywhere. And your resume / photo is available to everyone - 24 hours a day. Once it's posted, your resume becomes your "home page" with its own Internet Address - you can tell anyone to check you out at: http://www.screenactors.com/resume.cgi??
Actors also receive their own permanent, personal EMAIL address:

so, in addition to posting your agent or contact info with your resume, anyone can reach you easily via your EMAIL address. Actors can get and send EMAIL right here at SCREENACTORS.COM from any Internet computer, anywhere in the world, without a dedicated EMAIL program - essential for when you're on location. Producers can send targeted notices of casting possibilities (or calls for extras) to any actor in the database. Your subscription also allows you to access the SIDES area and study (or download) the SIDES posted there. If you're currently appearing anywhere, you can post it with your resume so agents and casting directors can find you and see you work.

What does it cost?

To AUTO-POST a resume and photo, the actor's small monthly fee is $8.50 (payable quarterly, in advance) and there are NO SETUP CHARGES. Any actor who signs up (and pays their first quarter) between now and November 30, 1996 will receive free service until January 1, 1997. If you pay in advance for 12 months, you'll save us some book-keeping and your total charge for 12+ months is $85.00 (that's another 2 months FREE). You auto-post right here online, by filling out the resume form and uploading your scanned photo. We've made it almost painless.

To MANUAL-POST a resume and photo, you mail us the completed resume form and your head shot along with your payment of $120 to cover one year's fees ($85) plus a one-time setup charge ($35) and we do the rest. This covers scanning your photo and entering all your resume information into the database. Photos can not be returned without a SASE.

We accept checks, money orders, MasterCard, or VISA.

Any way you look at it - if you get one day of work, it pays for the entire year's service several times over. You also save on copying costs of your resume and photo.

Are there any other discounts?

Yes !!! Between now and December 31, 1996, we are offering aggressive discounts for "group" subscriptions of 20 or more actors. This is typically intended for agents who want to sign up several clients at once, but anyone can put together a "group". Get more details here.

OR, any actor who refers another actor will get one month's free service for every actor who subscribes. To qualify, EMAIL us the names of those actors you have referred before they subscribe. Don't forget to include your name as the referrer.

What kind of scanned PHOTOS do you accept?

The preferred format is JPEG, but we can convert almost any graphics format. We'll take either color or black and white with a maximum of 256 colors (or shades of gray). The quality of your photo is very important to you and to us.

To avoid loss of quality, try to provide your photo with the following:
• WEB display increases photo contrast, so photos should not be high contrast.
• Photos should be reduced & cropped to: 204 pixels x 204 pixels
• JPEG file size should be no more than 6K.
• Maximum file size for uploads is 25K.
• We will convert all files to JPEG, 256 colors (or shades of gray), 6K or less.
  
  If none of this makes sense to you, don't worry about it. As long as your file size is less than 25K, we can probably work with it - go ahead and send it.
  
  If you don't have a scanned photo (file), but want to AUTO-POST, several places (such as Kinko's) will scan it for $20-$25. Or, send your photo (and $15) to: M.L. McCulloch

If you AUTO-POST your resume and photo here online, you can either mail a check or call a special TOLL-FREE number to give us your credit card number and expiration date. For your security, we will not ask you for your credit card number here online.

3. Sending direct mail to producers, agents, and casting directors.

5. Generally making www.screenactors.com the only place to look for talent.
